SPS Zone meetings serve several useful purposes. They

• make it possible for students from different colleges and universities to share their experiences as "novice" practitioners of physics.
• give students an opportunity to present research talks or papers in a non-threatening environment; this is excellent preparation for larger APS or AAPT meetings.
• give students a chance to share what makes their individual physics department a success, or to look for ideas to make their departments more vibrant.

Our goal in Zone 7 is to have at least one Zone meeting per academic year. We have done well so far. Our recent Zone meetings are listed on the Zone 7 page at the national site.
