Thanks to my brother, Barret Vance, I have had the great honor and pleasure to ride aboard the Yankee Air Museum's Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress" WW II heavy bomber. Of the over 10,000 built, less a dozen are still flying. Barry has logged scores of hours in working on everything from the aircraft's engines to details like psuedo-armament and ground support hardware. He's quite the pro on vintage aircraft engines, especially turbochargers. The Yankee Air Museum suffered a devastating fire in October 2003 and is hoping to rebuild with the help of generous supporters. A number of YAF members work at EMU and attend their airshows and events, or lend their time, dollars, and efforts to keep these planes flying. Luckily, their biggest and most notable aircraft were saved from the flames. They need your help. Please visit their website to see how to contribute to this non-profit, historic organization....
