Professor Behringer joined the Department of Physics and Astronomy in Fall 1995. Although trained in the field of surface science, he has developed an interest in optical spectroscopy and physics education research. He works together with Professor Sharma to develop the Modern Optics Lab. He collaborated with Norb Vance, the Director of Sherzer Observatory, conduct summer workshops in astronomy for K-12 teachers in the summer of 1998. He works with Professor Goldman in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor campus) to study semiconductor heterostructures. He also works with Professor LoDuca (Geology and Geography) on the evolution of dasychlads.
