Dogs in Space is a great way to introduce young children to the solar system. Fictional "space dogs" travel through our solar system, visiting each planet.  When they cannot find anyone at home on any of the planets, they return to planet Earth.  The last few pages of the book include a quick reference guide with information on the sun and each planet.
