In spite of ominous weather forecasts, this Fish Lake trip turned out to be one of the better sessions. Occasional bouts of clouds gave way to longer periods of crisp, clear autumn skies both nights. A fleet of Schmidt-Cassegrain scopes dominated the field, from C5 to Carl Burton's C14 -YOWSER! Rain dampened the first part of Saturday evening, but after midnight we were busy star hopping yet again - YIPPY! We were treated to a modest aurora, numerous Orionid meteors, deep sky objects galore, and an onslaught of lady bugs. Squish... they bite - YEOW! The Delta students assembled on the hill for a campfire as well. Kevin Dehne's nature hike was one of the largest assembled and still no one got lost- YES! And the Fish Lake staff prepared yet another fine selection of meals, especially that Saturday turkey dinner - YUMMY! The rockets flew into a beautiful, albiet breezy, blue sky. Mr. Vance's rocket sputtered a tad but then roared off the pad - YIKES! Tom Kasper's yellow spike finally made it into the skies only to be snagged by a rocket-eating tree on the bog's edge - YONDER! And Dan Lord's purple rocket ended up in the bog - YUCK! Grey skies returned early Sunday morning, but breakfast perked things up before the long trip home - YEAH!
