Eastern Michigan University
Astronomy Club

Meetings and Events
The club meets Thursdays at  7:30 pm  during the academic year (September - April) and on select Thursdays in the Spring/Summer (May-August) at 8:30 pm (note later Sp/Su start time!) in the Astronomy Lab, 402 Sherzer Hall.  Sherzer Observatory is open after Astronomy Club meetings, if CLEAR, during the fall and winter months.  Anyone is welcome to attend club meetings - free!  Keep in mind that daylight savings time means late spring/summer sunsets, so open observing can begin as late as 9:30pm in May, June, and July, if clear. Call (734) 487-3033 for additional information.

Spring/Summer 2009 schedule**    8:30 pm start time in 402 Sherzer until Aug 20.

Sherzer Observatory is scheduled to open for student viewing hours on CLEAR Monday (David Bush) and Wednesday (David Sitar) evenings for the Spring 2009 semester though the public is welcome to stop up and look through the telescopes. Hours are 9:30pm -11pm with a strong suggestion to be in the dome before 10pm as the doors to the building are often locked by security at that time. If you are uncertain if conditions warrant a trek over call 734-487-3033 to confirm. The observatory is also open for the public after the Astronomy Club meetings held on the following dates, again if clear:
