Atom Smashing: Electron Kinetic Energy Spectroscopy and Ne*-Ar Collisions
Description
Mr. Jacobs is an undergraduate who is working with Dr. Peter Siska in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh.  They are attempting to determine the mechanism for electron exchange and ionization in collisions of excited noble gas atoms, for example: Ne* + Ar --> Ne + Ar+ + e-.  This will be a presentation of the theoretical mechanism for these reactions and the electron kinetic energy spectroscopy techniques used to probe them.
