From Tuskegee
to Washington: How an Infamous Experiment Got a Physicist Involved at the
NIH
|
|
Description
|
| On
May 16, 1997, President Clinton offered an official apology to the human
subjects of a decades-long experiment near Tuskegee, Alabama. An
outcome of this apology was the creation of two programs, administered
by the National Institutes of Health, to study a variety of ethical issues
in biomedical research. Come hear Dr. Thomsen describe his experience
as a member of the panel that reviewed grant proposals to these programs,
and the insight he gained into bioethics and the mechanics of propoal review. |
