What is
Temperature?

Description
|
Most
people have an intuitive notion of what is meant by temperature.
However, it is difficult to define that property without resorting to terms
such as "hotness", which very quickly produce a circular definition.
We will examine the various ways physics texts at all levels tackle this
problem with an eye towards understanding what temperature really means
and how best to convey this idea to students.
