Dr. Diane Jacobs
How did Galileo time moving bodies?
Description
There are many ideas about how Galileo timed moving bodies. Unfortunately they are often as incorrect as most of the cultural mythology surrounding the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa experiments. (Most physics books don't tell us why the famous tower was even in Pisa.) Dr. Jacobs, who has been to Pisa and the Museo di Storia de Scienza in Florence, will lead a discussion about how Galileo may have timed falling bodies. She will then share the information, from the museum exhibits on Galileo's work, that explains exactly how he did it.
