The circuit diagram for a simple frequency divider can be inferred directly from the corresponding Boolean truth table. It turns out, however, that independent of whether electromechanical or solid state realys are employed, proper operation of the circuit depends sensitively on the intrinsic time delays with which the relays operate. A FORTRAN simulation reveals the allowable limits for these delays.
