How cold did it get last night?
Description
We often ask questions about temperature as if it had a single value everywhere at the same instant of time.  In fact, we are surrounded by a world out of equilibrium.  For example, "room temperature" depends on where you choose to measure it, and the "outdoor temperature" may be above freezing even as frost forms.  Textbook problems often assume uniform temperatures, but reality is more complex -- and more interesting.
