Solving
for the Allowed Electron Energies at a Semiconductor Interface
|
|
Description
|
| A
semiconductor heterojunction forms when two different semiconductors bond
to each other. At the interface between the two semiconductors, an
approximate triangular well may be formed. Electron trapped in such
a triangular well form a two-dimensional electron gas that can be used
as the transducer in radiation detectors. Matt Walker will present
his work on solving for the allowed electron energies of the triangular
well, the Physlet (physics Java applet) used to check his results, and
the web pages describing this project. |
